Neck liposuction is the removal of fatty deposits from the neck and chin area. This recontouring procedure is ideal for those with jowls, a double chin, or just general excess flab in the region.
It takes around one hour to perform neck liposuction. After anesthesia is administered, one or more small incisions are created in the target area. This gives access for the cannula, a thin tube used to remove fatty deposits. Its sharp end helps plastic surgeons break up the thicker fat clusters. The cannula is attached to a medical suction device, which removes the broken-up fat cells.

The neck liposuction procedure can result in swelling and bruising of the chin and neck tissues. With proper care, bruising and swelling can disappear within three weeks after the procedure. Some minor swelling may persist for up to a year. A compression garment may be recommended, which aids in the reduction of swelling.
You’ll need to take around a week off of work following the neck liposuction procedure. During this time, avoid any strenuous activity. Once the week has passed, you’ll most likely be able to return to your job and resume your daily schedule.
After the recovery period is complete and the swelling has fully reduced, you’ll be able to see the beautiful final results of your neck liposuction.
Patients with a high degree of skin elasticity are ideal for this procedure, since they are most likely to have their skin shrink to fit the new contours of the neck. Those patients with aging skin and less elasticity may need a full neck lift to trim excess sagging neck tissue.
